Market Development Manager Germany at Sellpy
As our Market Development Manager DACH, you will play a crucial role in driving Sellpy’s commercial performance through data, insights and hands-on execution.
You combine analytical strength with an entrepreneurial, problem-solving mindset - ideally shaped through experience in consulting, business development, or high-performance growth environments.
You work closely with the General Manager and cross-functional teams across Marketing, Product, Operations and Customer Service to continuously improve both the buyer and seller experience in the DACH markets. You are the one who spots opportunities early, turns numbers into actions, and ensures initiatives are executed with precision.
In short, you will
Drive insight-based decision-making by analyzing KPIs and identifying growth opportunities
Translate strategy into execution through local initiatives that impact acquisition, retention, and assortment
Support seller growth with data-driven insights, communication improvements, and retention initiatives
Boost buyer engagement by shaping assortment visibility and supporting campaign planning
Lead local marketing activation and ensure campaigns are relevant, localized, and effective
Act as the market expert and represent the DACH markets in cross-functional discussions

Requirements
4+ years of experience in a highly data-oriented role, such as Business Development, Management Consulting, or a Commercial Analyst position
B.S. or M.S. degree in Business Administration, Economics, or other relevant field
The ability to structure complex problems, analyse large datasets and derive commercial recommendations
Proven experience running projects end-to-end across teams
An entrepreneurial, hands-on mindset, comfortable moving between strategic analysis and operational execution
Fluent German, both written and spoken
Written and spoken fluency in English, as this is our company language
Deep understanding of the German market and consumer behaviour
We’d be impressed if you have
Worked in a fast-growing, product-focused startup environment
Exposure to performance marketing, CRM, or influencer management
Ability to build simple dashboards or run analyses independently (e.g. Bigquery)
Interest in sustainability, circular economy, or second-hand markets

Hybrid work: During the onboarding phase, you are expected to spend the majority of your time in the office to get to know the team and the role. After the onboarding, we expect at least 50% office presence, with some variation depending on team and tasks.
Form of employment: Full-time; 1 year contract (maternity cover) with high potential to become permanent
