Say hello to Joseph: From Operations to Finance - his journey at Sellpy
How did your journey at Sellpy begin?
My journey at Sellpy started in April 2022 when I joined the operations team working with outbound. I actually didn’t know much about Sellpy before that. My first role was quite different from my background, but when I started I quickly realized that there were many chances to grow.
Over time I helped with a lot of things including onboarding new hires and training to ensure everyone understood the processes and Sellpy’s vision. I also became involved in creating processes to ensure workplace safety.
In December 2022 I was humbled to receive the “Sellpy Star” award, which was a proud moment for me. After that, new opportunities opened up and eventually I moved into the finance team, where I’ve now been working for more than three years.
At Sellpy, if you raise your hand and show that you want to contribute and develop, people will listen. The opportunities are there, you just need to take them.
What does your role look like today?
Today I work in the finance department with a focus on the Swedish market.
My work mainly involves accounts payables, accounts receivables, VAT reporting, reconciliations, staff expenses management, process optimization, payments and risk management. The goal is to make sure everything runs smoothly and that the numbers are correct for stakeholder reporting.
How has your employee journey at Sellpy developed since you started?
Sellpy is a very fast-moving company. The company is constantly growing and improving its processes. Since I started, Sellpy has expanded to more markets across Europe. This means that our finance processes also evolve and adapt.
Behind the scenes there are many complex processes that need to work together, logistics, technology, finance and operations all play a role.
What motivated you to grow and take on new challenges internally?
I’ve always been curious and motivated to learn new things. When you show interest and take initiative, there are always opportunities to take on new responsibilities at Sellpy.
If you say that you want to develop or learn something new, people will support you and help you move in that direction.
In what ways has Sellpy supported you along the way?
The support from managers and colleagues has been very important. When you express that you want to grow, people really listen and support your journey.
Sellpy is also a hybrid company, which is very valuable for me as a parent. It allows me to balance family life and work in a good way.
Another thing I appreciate is the transparency in the organization. It’s clear where teams might need more support, and people are always willing to help each other.
What would you say to someone considering joining Sellpy?
Sellpy is a great environment for people who like innovation and problem-solving.
If you are creative, curious and enjoy finding solutions, you will feel at home here. It’s also a very supportive workplace where colleagues genuinely care about each other’s well-being.
